More and more people now work in front of computer. At least, they spend 6 hours in front of the computer. The most common problem when it comes to work at the desk is how to stay awake. Yes, this can be a very hard job to do especially when the body or mind has started to get tired. So, what are the solutions of this issue? Well, there are some practical tips to overcome this issue.
a. Take Hourly Breaks
It is the first tip. The key to stay fresh when you work at desk is to have hourly break. Your body, mind and eyes deserve a regular break to protect your health. When you do too much sitting, you will face higher risk of dementia, diabetes and heart disease. Therefore, make sure to get break at least once every an hour. 5 minutes break is enough. For instance, you can simply stand up from your desk and make some moves around. This may be a simple break but it does promote your blood flow and activate your muscle.
b. Don’t Sit, Stand
It means that you can raise your sitting position. Or, move to other parts of the office with taller platform. This is a good decision so you can benefit from more ergonomic work station. This is a way to get your body more relaxed.
c. Have Lunch Outside
Just because you are required to finish your job at your desk, you have to do anything at your desk as well including lunch. Remember, your mind and body needs a break. And it involves taking a break a bit further from your desk. So, make sure to go out to have lunch with your coworkers. This will get you to move your muscles, have some chat time with your friends and get the fresh air. This is a simple yet very effective tip.
d. 10 Minutes Exercise
Exercise doesn’t mean you have to run. Even small and simple movements can be considered good exercise. You can do it during or after the work. And it will give you big impact to let you feel more relaxed, refreshed and energized. The common exercises you can do include simple yoga poses, jumping jacks and jogging in place.
e. Take Stairs not Elevator
Taking the stairs is always a good and better decision that taking the elevator. This is actually a good cardio workout to increase the heart rate, increase immune system function and also improve the energy.
